How to avoid heart diseases if you are diabetic
Cardiomyopathy is very common complication of mismanaged diabetes. But it can be avoided by maintaining few important parameters:
(i)- Persistent high glucose levels:
It makes the inner lining of blood vessels, stiffer. Which affects the normal physiology of blood vessels and makes them incapable of responding against high blood pressure.
(ii)- Cholesterol values:
Second very important factor to be managed is your Lipid profile, infact prolonged high glucose in blood makes the inner lining of blood vessels sticky for cholesterol, hence plaque accumulation is accelerated that narrows blood vessels. If it happens in coronary circulation, blood supply to heart muscles is compromised.
(iii)- A1C monitoring:
Regular monitoring of A1C is very important in order to avoid damages from diabetes. Normal value of A1C is upto 5.7% that is ideal value, but diabetic patients must keep this value below 7% inorder to avoid cardiomyopathy.
A proper prescription from an endocrynologist or a gastroentrologist must be followed to manage your diabetes, moreover lifestyle managements like a regular exercise, limiting processed carbs and sodium in food can further help you in achieving good results
