What is mental fogging infact

Mental fogging is a general term for a group of symptoms that affect your ability to think clearly, focus, remember things, and process information at a normal speed.

For example:
Skipping a name, word, date, or a very common information.

For understanding the phenomenon, consider the way of brain processing. Our brain process the data and create a thought or decision by an integrated role of huge number of cells, called interneurons like an advisory council. So communication among the neurons is essential for working of brain. This communication requires the flow of different ions against their concentration by the use of energy, the energy is primarily obtained from metabolism of glucose.

Causes of mental fogging

(1) Poor sleep: When our brain remain active for longer time, it consumes most of energy reserves. Now it requires a resting period to rebuild the energy reserves.

(2) Multi tasking: Multi tasking causes over exertion of brain.

(3) Hypoxia: Oxygen helps in producing energy from glucose, hence low oxygen causes low energy.

(4) Stress: Under the state of stress or anxiety our brain unnecessarily works more and get fatigued.

(5) Poor diet: food containing processed sugars provide a random peak of glucose in blood, but does not provide continuous supply.

(6) Some health issues like diabetes, hormonal imbalance, and certain autoimmune disorders may also cause mental fogging.

Conclusion

Mental fogging can make it harder to focus, remember information, and think clearly. Understanding its causes and symptoms can help people take better steps toward improving concentration and mental clarity.
