How does liver impact skin health

Liver is a vital organ and takes part in about 500 different biochemical pathways in our body to regulate normal functions. Where liver takes part in almost all body functions, a healthy skin also depends upon healthy liver functions. Let’s take view of some important liver impacts on skin.

i) Acne: It is a common skin issue in which there are several pimples, scars, pustules and comedones develop on skin, mostly due to hormonal misbalance. Usually high estrogen and androgens cause the development of acne. Liver regulates the normal levels of estrogen and androgens by metabolizing and eliminating access hormones.

ii) Inflammation of skin:  Liver breaks down toxins and metabolic wastes such as excess bile and excess hormones which may trigger skin inflammations like eczema, psoriasis, acne and itching, in this way a healthy liver protects the skin against inflammations.

iii) Eczema: It is the skin issue that involves itchy, inflamed, and dry skin that may be triggered by allergens. Healthy liver prevents eczema by detoxifying blood, breaking down excess histamine, and metabolizing fats.

iv)- Premature aging:  Premature aging of skin involves appearance of aging signs on skin earlier, infect our skin turns over about every 30 to 40 days, but in stress and anxiety this turn over rate speeds up and aging signs appears earlier. moreover our skin has  proteins like collagen and elastin that maintains the elasticity in skin. liver plats its role in collagen and elastin synthesis.
