Is cataract reversible
Some people think that their cataract may be reversed by medicine or certain remedies, It is important to know what is cataract infect. In the cataract, the lens of you eye becomes foggy because of crystallization of certain proteins that are normally transparent but after crystallization becomes opaque.
There is no such medicine which can reverse this crystallization till now. The only solution is a very safe surgery, that includes dissolution and removal of foggy lens and implanting an artificial lens in place of natural one.
Nowadays there is a variety of lenses (intraocular lens) available with added features, like flexibility, UV protection and multifocal ability.
- Flexible lenses are foldable and can be implanted through a tiny incision of about 2mm
- UV protection provides a guard to retina against damaging UV radiations
- Multifocal property of modern lenses makes them to provide accurate near and far vision
So, every cataract patient should be knowing that the only solution is surgery and concerned person is ophthalmologist, hence they should avoid self-medication or alternative therapies, because there is no drug in this world, which is free of side effects.
