Some common aerosol sprays can be lethal

It is very common practice to use air freshener aerosols for fragrance and making environment fresh. But you might have noticed a feeling of suffocation in rooms where such aerosols are sprayed. Why does it happen?

Actually in the aerosols there is used a component, called as propellent. A propellant makes pressure, that disperses the aerosol in the air so that all the ingredients may distribute evenly in the air.

Many of the aerosol propellants contain butane, propane and similar hydrocarbons, which may cause certain serious hazards:

  •  Butane and propane displaces oxygen in lungs, that may cause severe damage
  •  Severe suffocation
  •  Cardiac damage can be happened by high grade suffocation
  •  Brain damage can occur by low oxygen levels
  •  Allergic reactions can occur in people, who are hypersensitive to fragrance or other ingredients.
while purchasing air fresheners we should read ingredient list first, inert propellants like nitrogen or helium are safe propellants because they do not interact with human body.
